Connecting wiiu controller

I'm attempting to connect a WiiU Pro controller to my Ubuntu 16.04 machine and I'm afraid that I just don't understand what I need to do in my next step. I'll warn you that I'm very new to all of this, I've only been using Ubuntu for two days. I know I have the bluetooth capability (bluez stack right?) because I've been able to connect a speaker. Following the directions in xwiimote, "be sure that [...] your kernel has the hid-wiimote kernel plugin loaded." I just don't know what that means. One website said to use the prompt, "modprobe hid-wiimote" that gave me a message, "operation not permitted" adding "sudo" to it and entering my password, gave me nothing, the terminal just doesn't respond to the prompt at all.

I'm sure I'm just missing out on something really simple because I'm so green and I'm going to feel embarrassed when it's explained to me.

Use QTSixA. You will be saving a lot of problems for yourself.
