Connecting LG Dual Up with Imac and Macbook Pro

I purchased the 1.4 Display Port KVM Switch-Dual Monitor-Two computer USB interface: 6 Gigabit. I am trying to connect my LG Dual Up monitor as the Control monitor with the 2 computers being an iMac and a Macbook Pro. I got the KVM to recognize the computers, but cannot get it to recognize the Monitor. I am currently using a new DP cord between the LG and the KVM, then DP and USB-B cords between both Macs. Am I missing something to have the LG be recognized?

What cable(s) are you using specifically? How long are they?

Can you clarify what you mean by this?

Onn brand Display Port cable 6.ft

LG is the monitor that I want to work with both my iMac and my Macbook Pro.

Welp… that’s probably your problem then. Cable quality is very important. We have a whole section in the FAQ about the importance of cables and how shoddy they can be sometimes:

Getting better cables will more than likely fix your issue:

I received my new cables today. I now have it set up and the KVM is registering my LG Dual Up. However, it every few seconds it will flicker once then wait those few seconds then flicker again.

I also am wanting to connect my Caldigit T3plus to the KVM so that I can use the devices I have plugged into the Caldigit on both my iMac and Macbook. I am struggling to get that to connect. I would be using a USB-C to USB-A.

Replying to say: we know it’s not a direct issue with the LG because it works without issue when connected directly to my iMac. This only started happening when I connected it to the KVM

I don’t think it’s an issue with the monitor, it sounds like it’s bandwidth related.

Some things to try:

After any/all of these try power cycling the KVM. Leave it off, everythign unplugged for a couple of minutes, plug just the PC in and monitor out, then plug in the power cord.

Let me know if any of these helped.

I did all the firmware updates and checked all my settings. It does not flicker between the LG and my macbook but it is still flickering between my lg and my imac.

I also am wanting to connect my Caldigit T3plus to the KVM so that I can use the devices I have plugged into the Caldigit on both my iMac and Macbook. I am struggling to get that to connect. I would be using a USB-C to USB-A.

Right sorry I see I didn’t reply to that before. Have you tried to plug the dock into the blue USB ports instead of the white USB HID? Also, just to be sure, make sure you’re trying to connect the KVM to the port labeled as “downstream”

can you expand on

“plugged into the Caldigit on both my iMac and Macbook”

you can go mac > caldigit > kvm
because that’s thunderbolt > caldigit > USB kvm

but you can’t do something like Mac > kvm > caldigit because the kvm provides a USB path but not a thunderbolt path. the caldigit upstream port is only thunderbolt. while downstream is thunderbolt or special USB.

@Level1_Amber Thanks for your help but I think I need to send this back because when its connected to my iMac and with the MBP it keeps flickering and we can’t get it to stop.

Message “wendell at level1techs dot com” for more service options

We have your KVM here as well as the Lg Dual Up that wendell Bought. I’ve made a video showing using the KVM with improper vs proper bandwidth:

With a good cable I had no issues with flickering

Update: The KVM has been connected to the dual up all afternoon without any flickering
