Computer won't boot (shuts off before booting)

Update:
I updated windows and at first everything was fine, it even survived the first reboot. However, the second time I shut off my machine, it said it was “preparing windows”. And when I tried to start it, the issue started to occur again. I’m thinking of just re-installing windows completely.
But first I’m gonna check the disk? Any good utilities for that?

Start with windows built in utility
Right click drive, properties then tools tab, check for errors.
If everything comes back A-0k try doing a windows reset from the settings menu, if that doesnt work do a fresh install from a USB.
If that still doesnt work then…

Really starting to look like a hardware issue unfortunately :frowning:

Also is your bios up to date?

Good news, it really was windows being a PoS. I think it might have been related to the recent update that Microsoft pulled back (although I thought that was related to the meltdown patch for intel). Anyway, resetting windows, while keeping data and documents fixed it. Even after I updated the system and using it for days, it still works. Thanks everyone!
