So my computer just started doing this and I was wondering if you guys think it's the powersuppy or gpu? My computer turns on fine, runs, but when I open up a game it will run for a few minutes and then my computer screen will go black. The computer is still running but there is nothing on the screen. I then have to do a warm boot. After the warm boot, it dose a power cycle for a little bit and then turns back on. I'm running a 1000w nzxt power supply to a msi board. The cpu is a 3770k with a 780ti. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions or what and how I could test my computer out. Thanks!
The 3770k has integrated graphics, so your first step would be to disconnect the video card and see if the issue still occurs when running everything off the onboard GPU. You can also check the windows event log, as detailed in one of Wendell's videos, to see if there are any clues in the Application Error logs.
Try downloading the Open Hardware Monitor:
http://openhardwaremonitor.org/
Run the game in windowed mode, and watch the hardware monitor while the game loads up to see if anything out of the ordinary is happening.
Also, try to underclock the memory and core clock of your video card and lower the voltage, and see if that resolves the issue.
sound's like a bad gpu
I'll give it a try! thanks!
