So I am having this issue with my PC turning on with all fans on and the computer is not posting. Also, there isn't any beeps going off. Specs are listed below.
CPU: i5 2500s
MOBO: Intel DP67DE
RAM: 8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport
GPU: Powercolor PCS+ R9 390
PSU: Corsair CX600
try running on integrated graphics to see if its an issue with power or the video card. Then alternating the ram individually or different ram all together. If not then might be a grounded motherboard problem or psu problem. Could be other hardware failure as well but more unlikely.
had a customer with the same problem this week.
just removing the cmos battery and putting it back in seemed to fix it, idk why and idk if this will help but its worth a try
There is not a single video out on the motherboard.
Sadly it didn't work but I do notice this weird pin thing for BIOS configuration.
The BIOS pin thing is a reset, by shorting the 2-3, you reset the BIOS.
Anyway, try a rebuild, remove all stuff connected to the motherboad (even the CPU) and take the mobo out of the case then reconnect them one by one, starting with the CPU and RAM. Wait for a beep, if there are no beeps still, chances are something's wrong with the mobo or some other hardware.
Did as you say. No beep. I know it's not my RAM, GPU and PSU because I just pulled out out of my old rig.
Once you short the CMOS reset jumper (those 3 pins) you have to put the jumper back in its original position.. you surely know that, right? Happens to all of us, forget to put that thing in place and you wont boot.
If not a RAM issue, nor video card, only real suspects are (to my albeit limited knowledge):
Dead motherboard
BIOS issue, need to flash it
Power supply failing to get past the power-on transient (underpowered or overshooting the curve)
EDIT: I've read some really bad things about that line of corsair power supplies dude, CX series is supposed to be a value/builder option right? Please correct me if im wrong. A friend some 2 years ago had to return his psu, the low-cost corsair unit failed to deliver rated power output even at low temps
Keyboard / mouse hooked up? Had a ASrock for a custom build that wouldn't POST without a keyboard.
If you're really struggling take everything apart and rebuild it again. If it fails again you have to go the one piece at a time route.
Double check the 4 pin or 8 CPU pin connector is properly connected.
A laptop i had did the same last night. I know you said its not the ram but try taking it out and putting it back in. my problem was fixed yesterday with this.
When you say "not posting," do you mean you get to the POST screen and it doesn't continue to boot, or is the screen blank? If you're getting to the POST screen, are there any error messages displayed? What are they? How old is your gear?
It could be the mobo, but you'll have to try everything else before jumping to that conclusion. I know you've already rebuilt everything, but are you sure the CPU power connector is in secure? Take it out and reconnect it. This is a common cause if you're not getting to the POST screen. Maybe it has a bad connector on it and is loose.
If any jumpers have been moved, make sure they've been put back in their default positions.
If you have a multimeter or a PSU tester, you can check if the PSU is delivering enough voltage or try a spare, if you have one. Same with memory, if you have any spares you know work, try them.
You could also invest in a POST card (AKA diagnostic card, since you'll get hits for postcards) if you're not even getting the POST screen. This has a readout that will display an error code. They are really helpful with tough to diagnose problems. They're very affordable, nowadays. I bet if you had one, we'd all know what the problem was already.
1st, have to use dvi on new build until you get drivers. 2nd, put one stick of ram in the first slot. 3rd, make sure you only have one one storage device connected, IE the one you want the OS on, disconnect all others. 3rd, you can't load windows on that board off a pen drive, you have to use a dvd drive. 4th, will not boot unless cpu fan header has a fan on it. Uhhhh, let's see, what else have I done before..........well, if the board supports onboard graphics use the VGA out only (legacy), also I have found that the vga or dvi-d will work on any graphics card with just the pcie lane power, no power supply needed. But it will only display vga default resolution. I hope you didn't bend the pins on the MB, it will not do anything, been there, done that with an I7 6700k and Asus Maximus Hero...... ouch. Check MB power cable above the cpu to ensure its clicked in........ oh yeah, don't put in your windows key until you are sure everything is OK. If you case don't use standoffs, has those metal risers use standoffs in them anyway, it will put the board off and you can't use the IO shield but I've seen those cases fry a couple boards. Does your case have a cut out for the cpu backplate? If not, MAKE ONE. This can cause a fault and make it look like the psu is bad. If you'll take a few close up pics of the layout and wiring connections I'll find your problem.
Old rig? What are you doing, just switching cases........different cpu..........different motherboard..... what's all new or what exactly are you doing. Also, no beep or post is a good sign of a fried CPU. Hope not, but that's one sign.
Update: So, still a no go. Call me crazy but I got my MOBO and CPU used from eBay recently so I can build in a smaller rig. Best case scenario: I'm just being dumb or I need a BIOS update. Worst case scenario: both the CPU and MOBO is dead. I did notice some weird stain on the back of the motherboard, but I'll return it if I have no luck. I'll have my mouse and keyboard in, use dvi, and use one ram slot at a time. I'm also going to make sure my PSU didn't die by putting it in my old rig and testing it.
I was thinking about this last night. The board might have had a 2500k or a 2700k in it overclocked and the 2400 is not over clockable. Soooo, look up how to clear CMOS (just gently remove battery and be sure to remember it's orientation) and then try to boot. If you get it to boot, download new drivers from the MB site and owners manual and figure out how to update the bios. I'd bet that's the problem. If you are trying to get it to boot with the OS from your old system, that will not work either. It's gonna take a fresh install, sometimes you get lucky and get one board to boot from another boards OS, but 9 times out of 10 it will not work. Looks like a fresh install of windows 7. Just FYI, I was windows 10 shy but finally upgraded Windows 7 machines and new builds got windows 10. Just don't enter the product key until you're sure you're gonna keep the motherboard. The key stays with the MB. But, thinking along those lines if you want me to I can show you how to retrieve the Windows product key that was last installed on the MB if you can get it booted up.
One more thing, what did the seller say about the MB? Was it advertised as working as should or do you have a link to the post. I have an old Asus P8z77-v Deluxe with wife and blue tooth I can let you have on the cheap. The 2400 would be right at home in it. It has 4 DIMMs of 2133 Gskill on it, really a nice board. I guarantee it to work. I fried the 3770k in it and just never went through the trouble of doing the ebay thing for a 2400 or 2500k. Every Christmas I buy a couple of boy or girl colored cases and fill them full of KWP (known working parts) and load up all the programs they'll need and take them down to Egleston childrens hospital and give them away to a few kids that have cancer. It makes me feel better and maybe, just maybe it will make them feel a little better. I got busted up pretty bad in the military so I know what pain feels like. My son and I Bitcoin mined for almost 9 years and we have a few extra parts and pieces laying around soooo. I wish it was an AMD board you needed, I'd just send you one. But, like I say, if you're interested in the Asus, which still has the manuals, magnetic antennas for the wife and blue tooth still in the box just email me. Should be able to find my email in my BIO but if you can't I'll PM it to you. Thinking back, I bought two of those boards new, one for me and one for my son for our personal rigs, he's still running his today but I've moved on.... over and over. My health has went to crap, so really, messing with computers is all I'm able to do. I can't game because of my hands shake and spasm really bad from one of the diseases I have called Dystonia. It's really hard for me to build and takes a long time but when I feel good enough I mess with it until I cant. Main reason the Asus board is in the shop, if I'm gonna go through the pain of building a computer it's gonna be a good one. Sorry for rambling on this morning but it has been one hell of a nightmare of a night.
I'm starting to give up. I noticed a big stain on the back of the motherboard. I am having doubts about the motherboard being functional, but at least the seller will provide me a full refund.
I would accept your offer but I'm looking for a M-ATX or an ITX board.
