I could not seem to find a problem section, so if there is a better place to ask this then please direct me.
Anyway, I built a computer and it shuts down when under load. There is no artifacting, lag or anything then power off. It does good in prime95, but anything else it is a full system shut down. Some times the power button does not work so I have to turn the PSU off then back on in order to turn it on.
I have no idea if this is a graphics card issue or not. I have reinstalled the current drivers, and installed the last drivers and it does not change anything. I have not overclocked anything. I played with it then reset it to default settings.

Corsair HX 850
adata xpg v1 2x8gb @1866
asus z87 plus. (I noticed I bought the wrong mother board when everything was put together.)
The only time I have experienced a shutdown like that was because something overheated very quickly. Prime 95 seems to do okay, but have you monitored your gpu temps? I've had the same symptoms with a bad gpu.
How are the CPU temps? if they are fine and you have access to a spare power supply around that power capability I would suggest swapping and trying that.
a 4770k not overclocked with a noctua d14. I can check it if you want me to, but I would be willing to bet that it is fine. I unfortunately do not have a spare psu.
Just making sure nothing silly was forgotten like a plastic cover on the heat sink which would show as high temps at idle and possibly reaching shutdown temps at load.
Nope, just cpu->thermal paste-> shiny metal bottom. But even if it was a heat problem, wouldn't there be lag, fans at high rmp, or artifacting? Or am I misinformed?
I can't say for certain, which I why I suggested if you have access to a spare to give it a try. (but the having to turn the PS switch off to get a restart leads me to look towards it)
Oh I was experiencing the same thing. I was trying out Folding at Home and that really pushed by gpu and cpu. I think the heavy load on both caused the shut down. It may be my motherboard not being able to handle all that power(didn't think it was psu cause I think corsair psu are reliable)? Idk...I'm not too experienced in this. I had to turn the power switch off as well and wait for a little bit before turning the switch on again and pressing the power button. It's so weird.
