I'm thinking about going with this build for my first gaming computer build. Are these parts all compatible? I know the cases' front USB's are USB 2.0 and the motherboard has a USB 3.0 header but can I still use the front USB's?
My budget is up to $450 (w/out Windows)
Live in Indiana
I have a couple mice (mouses?), but I can get a cheap keyboard at my local Best Buy
Mainly gaming, browsing, and watching Youtube videos
No overclocking
No water cooling
I can get Win 7 and my local best buy
I would like to play games on high settings
I would like to play at 720p or 1080p
Games I will be playing are Gmod, Minecraft (like to hover around 100fps+ on high settings), FPS games, mostly Steam games
But you can overclock the memory freq as well as any other clock in it, theoretically it goes up to 1600, but it goes up to over 1866 with tweaking. I like it best at 1600 but with very low latencies when using faster memory (CAS 6-7 instead of 8-9).
One remark though on the 100 fps in Minecraft with mods: no gonna happen, java is slow, and the 7770 can't run it higher than 50 fps with a large draw distance, and that's if you're lucky, and with a shader mod of which you don't know how efficient the programming is... 25-30 fps in 1080p will probably be closer to what you're going to get in open spaces. If you're mining in a small tunnel you might get 45-50 fps or so, but 100+ fps is definitely not going to happen.
