Community, please Select my parts

Im all tied up in knots trying to pick my parts so, I will leave the decision to the community. I have a hard time making this kind of decision considering my IT job and the plethora of information available. It used to be simpler.

My PC will be used for Star Citizen and a Linux based - PCIe Passthrough gaming rig. I will be transferring my several storage drives to the new rig.
I have currently: 2x 3.5 HDDs, 4x 2.5 SSDs and between 1 and 3 NVMe SSDs (2 are currently in my server but are necessarily important)

Parts needed:

  • X570 mobo
  • CPU cooler - I do have an existing NH-D15S but not sure if Ill keep it with the 4770k it currently cools. Especially if a good Liquid cooler would suffice. On that note, Either an AIO (NOT Corsair or EVGA) or a custom EK loop is fine if the community chooses Liquid over Air.
  • The Zen3 chip Im aiming for is going to be at least 12 cores.
  • Case with USB-C and plenty of storage options (preferring a 5.25 bay for a DVDRW) – i have a Corsair 600T that if i can figure out how to upgrade the front IO panel to modern ports…i would be fine with reusing it. I don’t know anyone who needs a FireWire port.
  • RAM kit 32GB DDR4 3600 or higher
  • PSU

Total budget for current parts (waiting on Big Navi and Zen3): $1200 at the most. Rather not drop 1200 on just these parts but I figured the better the quality of components, the higher the cost.
I could give a rat’s behind about RGB. This thing will sit on a platform to my left next to a tower server and be ignored. Same with Tempered Glass or no tempered glass.

Oh and if anyone has a suggestion for an external Sound Card/DAC for a 5.1 surround setup…that would be awesome.

I am ready to drop the coin on the parts. No CPU or GPU obviously.

What do you think?
R9 4900X + Big Navi will probably be 1200-1300usd.

Is Zen 3 confirmed am4?

yes

Oh nice.

Too bad it’s not coming till December.

this is what I was leaning towards but havent been able to pull the trigger on:

i had also considered this AIO: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082DYKB1F/ref=twister_B087VN16XW?_encoding=UTF8&th=1

The reason I chose the AIO that I did, was because GamersNexus determined that it was the best of its class. I know it’s not a very popular brand, but they’ve been around for a bit.

The Fractal Define 7 XL might be a tad too big for your build. You could get away with something much smaller.

Also, I’m not sure the Crucial ram that you chose is B-die, if you care about that stuff.

im planning to load the case with existing drives. Id go with the Define 7 over the 7XL.
