Wait...
You are telling me you had a class that tested your knowledge of CMD?
LOL
It is ridiculous to ask someone to memorize cmd codes, you only have to memorize a single command, and that is help. When you type help it lists all existing commands, and you can even ask for details by typing a command and /? .
If you want a good way to practice cmd, write a simple game in a batch(.bat) file, you can actually do arithmetics, comparations, jumps, ect...
I think CMD is pretty useless.
Learn powershell or cygwin.
"It is ridiculous to ask someone to memorize cmd codes" <--- THIS.
It feels so useless to memorize them, that I didn't wanted to do a big effort. And pff, if I want to know some CMD commands I google them.. I guess he just wants us to know some basic knowledge, and where the roots of computers started.. but that's not MS-DOS or PC-DOS but UNIX(if I'm correct)
@D101: Ty for that "help" command tho, didn't know that one!
@Teebler: I don't even know if I'm going to need those later on in my carreer! And your picture is akward :D but funny!
I think the most usefull you could use cmd for would be to find the ip of a computer on your network or move a file to another folder. So no I am pretty sure you will not be using it for much at all.
Yeh only thing I've used it for was /ipconfig and /iprenew
And /CHKDSK (or something like that) too see how many bytes one allocation unit had. (I guess that might be the same as a cluster?)
CMD is not that hard, on collage i have to work with bash over ssh, and that can be frustrating...
I find this fun.
Did I mention my main hobby is tinkering around in Linux?
Haha, fun, tell that to my roommate, he freaks out every time he has to work with bash...
if your actually gonna use them, you will memorize just through use, otherwise, memorizaton of cmd commands is useless, though it is a pretty useful tool, for certain uses...
