So i got a modem refurbished off ebay and i am currently being told (xfinity guy is here as i type this) that I cannot use the arris tm722g because he says it is listed as destroyed under comcasts system. I am being told that they cannot use my own and must install the proprietary AIO modem router crap that costs 10$/mo. I just want to be able to use my modem i purchased and a dedicated router...
what can i do
If it works tell them to fuck off?
Comcast has a list of supported devices. If your device is not on that list, and they will not let you use it then you are out of luck.

sometimes you can lie and say its one of the supported devices.

This is the second time ive had the comcast technician come in to install service, and I had previously purchased a TM822g and he said they used those many times before, but cannot install them because they dont have the speed capabilities which is such a fucking lie because the 722 supports 4x4 meanwhile the 822 is superior and supports 8x4 channels
