Cluster Server OS Suggestions

Hi,

Im building a VM server cluster (or trying to!)  I have used Proxmox in the past and dabbled in ESXi etc but I am looking for an opensource solution.

Proxmox would be my choice normally but they seemed to have moved to a subscription based model for their latest build, and now im looking for an alternative, I have a VM with opennode installed but this seems like its is still in its infancy and I would like something a little more polished.

I did come across something called opennebula which I am going to have a play with soon but thought I would see what some the Tek (tech) Guru's using/recommend.

Cheers

You could look at SmartOS. It's more cloud than cluster but it is something interesting and different anyway.

I once heard of something called Beowolf maybe see what you can dig up about it

Haha Beowulf clusters... http://coen.boisestate.edu/ece/files/2013/05/Creating.a.Raspberry.Pi-Based.Beowulf.Cluster_v2.pdf
