I went over to a friend's home to have a mini LAN party and noticed something in his computer case. He said he had lost a few of his case's expansion slot fillers, which are just for keeping dust out when the slot isn't being used, so he decided to cut out rectangular pieces of cloth to cover the slots he wasn't using and act as filters. Since the cloth was touching the motherboard, I warned him about potential static discharges, but then really thought about it and now I assume that the power supply, which is touching the case, is grounded, so it's causing the case to be grounded, which should constantly be discharging the cloth. What do you guys think? Is it safe to do something like this?
i think you'll be fine.
