Cleaning after market heat sinks

It is that time of the year again where I will be cleaning up the internals of my desktop, but it one thing I still couldn't clean out properly are the after market heat sinks...

I can clean it to an extent, but could never find the best way to clean in between the fins.

Is there some sort of science that cleans the in between the fins of the heat sink?

Do you guys/gals have any trade secret in cleaning your after market heat sinks?

Thanks in advance!

A can of compressed air should do the trick.

The best way to keep your pc clean is positive airpressure and dust filters over the intakes though.

If air cans or air from a compressor aren't working, running water through them does well in my experience. Make sure you blow out the water and leave it out to dry for an adequate amount of time or heat it up thoroughly with a heatgun to evaporate all the water.
