Cinnamon lacks functionality

So, I'm a big Xfce user, but I also really like Cinnamon. My biggest slab of beef with Cinnamon is that you get far less control of different effects, settings, and panel options than on Xfce. I was wondering if there was a way to change certain settings with more control like I can do in Xfce or does it just come with the territory?

I read the title and I came here to rant that cinnamon is like butter put that shit on everything. And hot sauce.

You have to remember that cinnamon was just a mere graphical shell.
xfce was like holy shit this isnt just code anymore

It's probably for that same reason it's often called the best DE if you're transitioning from Windows.

It's actually kind of funny the similarities, from the panel customization to the desktop widgets that no one really uses. For a "look good and get out of my way" DE, it fits its bill perfectly.

Yeah, but I really like it. Xfce just butters my biscuits in all the creamiest ways. But I'm running with Cinnamon for my more day to day stuff. I'm just curious to see how tweakable it is before I have to start changing things through text instead of a GUI. Not that I don't mind, I just don't care enough to do it.

In my opinnion Cinnamon isnt even that user friendly for new commers to linux.
I think that XFCE is a way more user friendly DE, and the whisker menu looks pretty much like Windows 7 startmenu.
And customization is pretty easy.

Another menu that to mee looks realy allot like windows10 is Mate.
But then in redmund mode with Mate panel.

ive learned that the more you mess with linux the more you realize why it isnt popular. It just doesnt all mesh well with each other. Its a pain in the ass and people just make things bc hey I want this environment and fuck them im doing it my way and it will work for me. And then they publish it. Its why there are software companies not software places(cant think of a good word). Things work better when they are planned together. none of linux is at all

i'm also a XFCE goblin. i would like KDE, but it does the same thing Unity does on my laptop, which is just randomly spit out errors that something has crashed.

Gosh, I really like KDE but I've learned the hard way that KDE is made for people who like to turn on their computer with a 30% chance it'll just give a more technical description of 'fuck you'.

i think to run it smoothly, you basically need a desktop. which is fair. that's why the good lord Linus invented other De's [BEFORE THE BARRAGE OF NERDS SNAPPING THEIR FINGERS OFF SMASHING OUT REPLIES HITS ME, I AM AWARE HE DIDN'T MAKE DE'S]

Is there a specific functionality that you miss coming from XFCE? Cause the basic theming is there.

I found launcher and applet editing was a lot more straightforward in Xfce as well.

I got you OP.
I agree, not much you could do with this other than food stuffs.
