Chrubuntu Gnome. Black Screen. Arm, Tegra k1

This is going to be a strange post, but whatever. I own an HP chromebook G3, that has an nvidia tegra k1 arm processor. The arm processor contains a pretty beefy mobile gpu. I have used a duel booting script, called chrubuntu, which allows you to boot up to chromeos, or linux. I used this custom script for the tegra k1 which installs the drivers, and a unity desktop environment. I modified the script, into this script, which pretty much just installs the ubuntu-gnome-desktop meta package, instead of the ubuntu-desktop meta package.

However, when the graphical environment starts up, there is just a black screen. You can use the function keys to switch to the terminal, and that works, but the graphical user interface does not. It worked before with unity, and lxde. Also both times it had full opengl hardware acceleration, so I don't know why it doesn't work with gnome. Also again, I installed the gnome shell after installing unity and that worked too. It just seems like the ubuntu gnome package in a fresh install isn't working. Any suggestions?

EDIT: Does this have something to do with the display manager? Because I'm pretty sure ubuntu-desktop(unity) uses lightdm, and ubuntu gnome uses gdm, so is it possible that the tegra k1 isn't supporded on gdm, or something.

Once in a blue moon this happens to me as well with "normal" hardware.

Coincidentally this happened to me earlier today. I installed opensuse gnome and it went straight to a black screen and then my monitor turned off.

I literally did noting other than reinstall opensuse and it worked fine.

No guarantees that it will work for you, but I would just reinstall or try something new like antegros or opensuse.

I reinstalled it, and it still did not work. However, If I install the default unity version it works. I think it has something to do with the display manager, but I am still not sure.

I think I had a similar problem with ...OpenSUSE, I think, on my pc.
If I'm not mistaken it sure was something with the DM that screwed things up.
Try running

startx

and see what happens.

P.S. I'm still a noob at Linux.

have you tried starting a fall-back session?

that actually worked. I stopped gdm and I used startx, and it worked! Thanks :D Is there any way to get this working on boot?

I just changed the DM because I was lazy, don't know if there's a fix for gdm.
Look up either method you feel like doing.

Ok will do. I should probably create a new thread for this, but oh well. The wifi doesn't work. It has two wifi devices mlan0 and uap0, which find my wifi, but when I try to connect, it doesn't do anything.
