Chromebooks once more

Since there were several topics about chromebooks recently i thought I'd share that the Linux Action Show is doing a chromebook episode today, they will discuss replacing a laptop with a chromebook, not sure what they'll go over, maybe a bit of installation or issues and so

They are live now on jblive.tv and they will post the video on their website later in the day I guess when it's edited

I think I'll order one to try it out.

You even get 1 TB for 3 year for free when you get a Chromebook Pixel

The point of chromebooks (IMO) is to be inexpensive, light-duty, compact mobile computers. Kind of like a netbook but without the resource-hogging windows OS.

The Pixel carries quite a high price. Considering its intended use, the price is far too high IMO.

I picked up an Acer C710 a few weeks ago and after some relatively inexpensive upgrades (128GB SSD and 4GB ram), it absolutely flies. I use it a lot and it has enough CPU/GPU grunt to run a pile of chrome tabs and AutoCAD360 without much trouble.

If you're going to grab a chomebook, I would recommend you stick to the less expensive models that are able to be upgraded, like the C710/720.
