Hello everyone I am knew here, and I was wondering if I were to purchase a Chromebook would it be possible to code in any programming language if I loaded Linux onto the Chromebook. I wanted to tinker with the OS, and start using something portable like that for programming at the same time. Thank you all for your time :)
These were some of the Chromebooks I were looking at.
Even in Matlab my laptop can sometimes struggle with compiling the code and I am running an i7 processor.
Even if you are just learning, you will quickly run into the limitations of the cpu.
A chromebook would do ok for a linux distro that you could do some school or small business work on, but for anything more than that, you will really want something with at least an i5.
I don't see any reason you couldn't use it for programming. Only limitation is you wouldn't want to be making huge games on it as they wont run too well
