I have been shopping around for a new laptop and I saw some people put linux on a Chromebook Pixel. after looking into it a little more they used crouton to run chrome os and some distro in not really sure about at the same time? While that is cool and all I figured that since the pixel is x86 you could put whatever distro you wanted on it (maybe even windows?). After searching for a while I saw some people boot into android from a usb, but I didn't see anyone actually install something like Ubuntu on one. So is it possible to to format the ssd and install Ubuntu or something on a Chromebook Pixel?
Sorry if I sound like a bit of a newb with linux terms, cause I am.
However if you are looking for a serious laptop for school/work/gaming I wouldn't recommend buying a pixel as it is more of a proof of concept than something that is meant to be bought for actual use.
It's definitely possible. the only boner killer on installing Linux on the chromepixel is just the fact you're limited to to 64GiB of storage (if i remember correctly) the Pixel is so awesome but the storage sucks ass. and i don't think it can be removed.
I mean it's fine don't get me wrong Linux is incredibly light weight.. the most you'll probably see from a Linux system is 6 or 7 GiB of storage. But I personally don't like to have less then 64GiB of storage on any device.
