I am downloading all the drivers for the new motherboard I am getting tomorrow. I got the latest chipset driver downloaded so I opend it and there are folders and subfolders in the damn thing. Which .exe is the driver? I am getting the Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 if that helps.
Well, I went to download the driver myself to check it out but... 901MB. That has got to be the most bloated piece of software I've ever come across, and I have an Acer netbook. I'll check back in 30 minutes once I've downloaded it.
BTW - you're using Win7 64 bit, right?
UPDATE: It's pretty straight forward. extract the zip, navigate to the "install" folder, run AsusSetup.exe
Yes, I am using Windows 7 64-bit. I see that .exe but what are all the other folders with .exe files in them? What are they for? I am pretty much self taught on computers with reading user manuals and how to's but I always seem to have questions about small things mostly to do with software. For example if you go to the Asus website and download the LAN driver for the Sabertooth we are talking about, when you open the folder there are three more folders labeled" Vista", "Win7", and "Windows".
So I open the Win7 folder and see that there are two .exe files, AsusSetup.exe and setup.exe. The Asus .exe is dated 9/08/2010 and the setup.exe is dated 4/19/2012. What is the difference between these two .exe files? You see hardware, to me at least, is very straight foward. It's always software that seems to confuse me.
The bundled all of the drivers, for all supported systems (32 and 64bit) into one package. All those folders are there for the convenience of the installer. If you already know your system, I suppose you could go into that folder and run the installer in there (either should work), but I'd just let the installer in the "install" folder do its thing.
Hello ZombieKohhi,
You can use the drivers linked below.
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/raid_windows.aspx
the SB drivers are the primary chipset drivers.
If you are lookg to install the chipset drivers once you download the multi OS installer ( part of the reason it is so large ) then all you need to is extract the folder. Once inside just go until you get to the install folder and you will see a file called AsusSteup. This is the primary setup file and will autodetect the rest of the information applicable to your system and launch the correct support folder.
So again to clarify.

Hope this helps. Please enjoy the rest of your day.
