I own a CoolerMaster QuickFire TK (Cherry MX Blue) mechanical keyboard. It is the first mechanical keyboard I have owned. It is around two years old. However the 'W' key has already failed. It has lost it's click, and is really wobbly. Obviosly due to gaming. Is this normal? I kind of had the impression that it would last a lifetime. I use it quite a lot, but not excessively. I do moderate gaming and typing.
It shouldn't be failing unless your really not treating your keyboard well..
Contact them and see if they can replace/fix it. If not.. never buy from them again
You obviously gotten a bad unit which is fairly normal in when buying stuff but and also applies to mechanical keyboards but still what @Eden said see if you can get a replacement.
Thanks you for the helpful replies.
Unfortunately it is out of its 2 year warranty.
Doesn't mean you can't ask. It shouldn't be breaking.
Yes I think I will.
Thank you, Eden, for the advice.
If you end up needing a replacement, I suggest Corsair. Their peripherals' build quality is fantastic, my K95 has thick cables, aluminum chassis, and of course, no issues with switches. Same story with the mouse. Stay away from the "RGB" or "LUX" branded ones to save on cost or if that's not your thing.
That you for your input, Spacejamflam.
I have another CoolerMaster QuickFire TK keyboard with brown switches that I can fall back on.
I also already know what my next keyboard will be. The Model-M ten-keyless by Unicomp. However it has not been released yet.
If it's the only key that is not working, why not replace the key by desoldering it and soldering a new one on.

If that is out of the question then never mind.
Hey, Theoneisdrunk.
That is exactly what I am going to do, if I can't get it replaced/fixed first.
stuff happens, switches die sometimes. If it's in warranty you can get it replaced. If you're handy with a soldering iron you can replace the switch itself.
I have almost nothing to add, so I will just repeat the information all ready out there and add the last nugget.
People are right it should not stop working that quick at all, it is more of a life time thing.
You all ready have contacted Coolermaster.
Desoldering and swapping the switch is not hard at all, I taught my self basic soldering by doing it. A desoldering pump, the press and release ones are fine and some solder wick is nice to have but I did not when I did an entire board so it is not essential. All you need is time.
The last new nugget, fuck corsair. Seriously. Just don't even bother if you think you will end up at customer service it is not worth the stress and anger. Fuck those guys CMStorm boards are just better and the company are just nicer people over all, they actually seem to care.
Shit, I own that exact same keyboard model (same switches as well)... I hope this isn't a sign to something...
I thought I'd never find someone else who doesn't like Corsair. This is pleasant.
