Lets see:

  • Memory: Good
  • HDD: Good
  • ODD: Good
  • Case: Wee bit pricey but if you like it go for it
  • PSU: You don't need anywhere near that power, a 500W would do you just fine
  • GPU: You're gonna want to spend more money than this on the Graphics, if you hunt around you can find HD6870s for $130, or HD7850s for $180
  • Mobo/CPU: Hmm, not 100% with you on this one, but on the other hand for the price the PII still hold up really well, spend less on the Mobo, aim for about $60-$70

In before Giga wants to redo your entire build.

Please do yourself a favor and invest in a better GPU you can grab a new 650 for $130. Admittidly it's not the best but in a few months you could put into sli. Other than that, PSU overkill and case I can agree with Cloud but on the otherhand it is pretty sexy looking.

Yeah the PSU is completly overkill. Even with a 660 ti and 3570k thats a lot more than i you need.

I would get a better GPU. The power supply is a little overkill, but it'll be good for future upgrades down the road

I agree with the other two guys who commented. Get a new video card. You won't be running anything on ultra with that trust me. I had one and it looks good for the price but it REALLY isn't. Also you can shave down you PSU if you want to save money. Grab the CX600 instead of the CX750. You will save $40 which you can put towards a better GPU and the CX600 will do anything you need it to do unless you want to run Crossfire or SLI which it doesn't seem like you are going to do. The HDD you should get the 500GB WD Caviar Green and that will save you another $20 I think it was. Or if you want to fork over another $30 you can double your HDD space and pick up a WD Caviar Green 1TB. Everything else looks good. Mobo is good, CPU is good. In the future if you want some better performance you can grab a Corsair H60 or something like that and get a decent overclock out of your CPU.

I wouldn't recommend the WD Greens, they have very slow performance and are not worth the few $ you'd save. I generally find the green drives work fine in servers as secondary storage devices, where read and write times won't matter so much, but running your OS on a Green drive is gonna give you a bad time. You'll definately want to stick with the Blues or go for a spindisk if you can get a similar size for the same price.

do you intend on Overclocking, if not then there are better solutions
