Cheap Portable media player build

so im looking to build a portable media player hub like thing. basically somthing that i can plug into a home TV and watch movies from it. then when i head over to my moms house or anywhere really i can take it with me without too much hassle anbd plug it in there and continue to watch.

so really the criteria for this build were

- Small.

- plays movies in full 1080p

- cheap (obviously the cheaper the better)

-has an HDMI port

-relatively quick (i dont need gaming rig speeds but i am a bit inpatient)

so what i ended up with was...

this was pretty challenging for what it was since im so used to gaming rigs now i have no idea what the minimum for 1080p video is so i just threw an A8 in and i know NOTHING about building micro ITX rigs but it seems like i may need to go up in size just to have enough space for all the parts.

Hey, I just wanted to suggest this if you're interested. Here's some info on the Intel NUC if you're not already aware of it. It's a pretty small device but only with msata storage support, so you could connect an external drive and carry them together. Good luck with your decision!

what's your budget?

I accedentally'd portable game rig

remember promo codes

I can make this cheaper with about the same perfomancce as the on you post but for less or add a SSD in

ya i looked at those they look pretty cool but $300 without the HDD or RAM seems like in the end itll cost me the exact same to just build the one i posted. and i think the one i posted may preform a bit better....although it would be noticably bigger. and probably louder. i may consider it if this endevore becomes more esxpensive.

budget is no single part can cost over $100

i love it but its slightly big for what im looking for. the whole purpose is so that i dont have to lug my PS3 around when i want to watch movies and sh!t at friends and families house or the family hunting lodge. ideally i was hoping to find somthing similar in size and shape to a gamecube case or a little bigger for a mini ATX to house it (hell I even considered gutting one to house it)

change out the APU combo for a cheaper one like the 5600K with ram and my build below with meet those conditions

though combo deal server is down on newegg at the moment but it should be back up within 24 hours

game cube is a no go but you can fit mini itx in a SNES

any +60w dell/HP charger

SNES case

meh those are the other end of the spectrum a bit too small. as far as size goes im not really as set on the gamecube size as much as i am the shape.

intel nuc

i deffinately like that build much better i just have to find an ITX case that i like enough to put it in.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/TmgM is what im looking at currently i went a bit over on the case because its the smallest one i could find that could fit all the parts i needed in it. i also splurged on the HDD but since the build is a media server i needed the space. I may also buy the cooler from that nintendo build because cooling seems like it may be an issue.
