Rice and Fried egg that is really a cheap but taste good.Well most of the time i am eating some food that quite expensive but then it is delicious just like that cake a bake using the baking equipment that i bought at http://www.bedika.fi/ near at Helsinki in Finland country and it was really helpful for me because everytime i want to bake i have my own equipment.
With what Logan said in here is the best advice, stay far far far away from processed foods, but good recipes are dead simple, depending on what you can eat that is.
Dietary/digestion issues aside, I quite like making pilafs with quinoa, lentils, a bit of brown rice, onion, tomatoes, and curry spice mix, not too expensive and lasts a few days, you get all the proper proteins, vitamins and minerals out of it, and dead simple to make.
Egg all the way. You can do all sorts of stuff with that thing. hard boil it, fry it, fry the hard boiled, scramble, throw it at people.
egg is a miracle food. i like sardines in tomato paste and just mush it up with white rice. hot pot beef/lamb slices fried is pretty good too. and quite cheap. its like 4 dollars for enough to make a few meals
potato balls
- potatoes
- hotdogs/bacon
- oil
- beef bullion (optional)
peel and microwave your potatoes until they are half way between raw and baked. then mash them into a paste with a fork. then cut up your bacon/hot dogs into pieces and place them inside a ball's of potato roughly the size of a choclate truffel. then fry them in oil until golden brown and enjoy. optionally you can put a beef bulion cube in the oil while you cook them to improve flavor. enjoy.
home made french fries
- potatoes
- oil
- salt
- beef bulion
- optional bacon grease
peel and cut your potatoes into fry shaped pieces (the thinner the pieces the quicker it cooks, but the less amount of time you have to take them off the burnner before they burn) then boil your oil in a pan (optionally add bacon grease to the oil) and add beef bulion. when the oil is hot enough (the best way to find out is by placeing 1 fry in it and when it done its ready) add your fries and cook them for about 15-45 minutes depending on their thickness and the heat of the oil. when they are golden brown remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel on a paper plate (too absorb the excess oil) and add salt to taste.
the BEST eggs despite logans claims
- eggs
- peppers
- onions
- butter
- spices (too taste/prefence)
- and either italian sausage, beef, or ham
cut the onions and peppers into small pieces and fry them with butter, about 5 minutes before their done add sugar (which will carmalize). when they're ready they should be sticky and and a dark brown color. remove the onions and peppers and set them aside. fry the meat and add any spices you wish. scamble and whip the eggs and then add spices to your taste/preferance then add the meat, onions, and peppers to the egg and pour the whole thing into the pan. let it cook until it solid on the bottom and then using a fork, pour a small amount of water underneath your omlet. cover the pan and let it finish cooking and enjoy.
Stir Fry!
Steamed White Rice
1lb. Chicken or Beef cut into 1 inch cubes/slices.
Chopped Broccoli (add to desired amount) or any type of stir fry veggie mix.
Teriyaki Sauce
Heat 3-4 tablespoons of EVOO in a frying pan or wok. Add meat and brown (chicken golden brown). Add brocolli/veggies and let cook until veggies seem to be cooked through. Add Teriyaki sauce to desired amount and simmer uncovered for 5-10 minutes.
Remove from heat and let sit for 1-2 minutes. Pour over rice in bowl or on plate. Enjoy!
Rice and beans:
-rice (I like long grain like basmati or jasmine)
-salt
-cumin
-garlic powder
-black pepper
-bullion powder
-an onion
-can of black beans
cut up the onion, drain the beans, add those and the seasonings to the amount of water the rice package directs and mix in the rice, cook. Cheap, tasty, and a complete protein.
Pan fried burger:
-ground beef
-salt
-garlic powder
-black pepper
-thyme
-2 slices of bread
-soft butter
-cheese
Butter one side of each piece of bread and put them face down in a pan on med heat for a few min until golden and crispy. shred/crumble the beef into the smallest pieces you can and mix with the seasonings, form a patty the size of the bread. Put it in the pan for a few min each side until crispy. Put some cheese on one of the slices of bread and nuke it for 10-20 sec. Add some greens if you want and maybe some condiments. Better then any fast food joint and takes less then 10 min.
I think burger is quite expensive too.I can't think cheap food most of the time i ate quite expensive food that i made. Most of the time i bake throught my baking equipment that i bought in far country in Espoo at http://www.bedika.fi/ and it was useful weather you want to bake cake or bread.
Eat eggs much?
I've tried many of these recipes and all of them turned out a complete failure due to my lack of knowledge in cooking :(
If ever in Vancouver let me know I will make you a Deluxe Steak Dinner or Salmon or whatever you like Giga
Curry rice, the initial cost can is manageable, unless you have an Asian market close by, then cheap as hell I followed this recipe, because I love the hell out Japanese Kare Raisu:
http://justonecookbook.com/blog/recipes/simple-chicken-curry/
You can substitute the chicken with anything you want, I generally do the curry almost like keema, in that I mash up my fish, generally a white fish like sole, haddock, or the like.
Pasta is really cheap and you can do a lot with it. Such as Ala Vodka, bolegnase, etc.
Ugh I realize I am remembering things from my culinary school....
Seems like computers and eggs blend well together,.
I love raw green vegetables with mayo and shredded scrambled eggs.
what logan said and Pancakes. You can make broccoli soup from just broccoli and salt. you boil the broccoli and then save the water. you chop the broccoli in a food processor and then add the water back into test.
Cut some large sized potatoes into thin slices (like french fries), then fry them like french fries. add some salt
Or you could boil them in a stock pot, add some salt and sliced onions, beans etc
Yum
my new favorite bachalor food is speghetti, I know you're tired of noodles but 1.25 of a box and 1.65 for a can of chunky sauce is pretty good economically a whole box will last the entire day and maybe even breakfast
well for normal people, not everyone has as big of a stomache as me lol
Appreciate the offer! probaby won't be up that ways for a while though, by the time I do I'll be pretty weathy so I'll buy you one instead.
In the summer I basically grill everything. I work in the meat department at my local grocery store for a part time job so I basically just wait to see what goes on special in meats and produce and get that and grill it.
All of the packaged and processed stuff (like wonder bread) leaves me feeling tired and with little energy.
Cheap-ass banana pancakes (4 ingredients, easy to make)
Each batch makes 3 large thin pancakes. Plus, it's pretty damn healthy
2 eggs - not just egg whites. The yolk is needed
1 1/2 bananas (odd ratio, but don't push it. Trust me. Eat half of one or make a double batch)
1 large tbsp Almond butter
a dash or 2 of powdered cinnamon (or to taste)
2 ways of making it. The poor man's way is to mash the bananas with a fork until they are smooth, crack and mix the eggs and almond butter. Add cinnimon and mix. The not-so-poor way is to throw it all in a blender.
Heat a nonstick pan to medium heat, grease with butter or coconut oil (enough to cover the bottom or that shit will stick). Pour in desired amount of batter. I keep mine about 6" in diameter. Fry until it develops a golden brown colour on the bottom (2ish minutes), flip, repeat.
Sweet enough to not need any syrup. It's pretty damn delicious. Each meal costs like $1-2 once it's said and done.
