"Cheap ass gaming rig" looking for some alternates

I'm just looking for some confirmation I guess. This is going to be my first build, so besides needing it to be as cheap as possible, I don't want to go $$ crazy when it's my first time doing this. I'm mostly just going to be playing ESO whenever that comes out so I think this set up will run better than what I've been use to.

Is 430W really necessary? Logan said it was too much for this setup, I do plan on putting a 6670 or something in the future and crossfire. I'm just afraid of it being to powerful and doing damage instead of helping.

I got a mouse and i'll be using my tv as a monitor, just need a keyboard.

Need an OS, anyone know a cheaper route let me know (Excluding piratebay) and it needs to be windows.

Set up is at about $395, help me make it cheaper! lol Maybe a hard drive with less storage?

Thanks for all the help everyone! I'll be posting pics of my build when I got everything. Should be in about 3 weeks.

Even if you had a 1500W PSU, it wouldn't damage the parts you had. By too powerful, he meant that it has more power capabilities than are needed - it can put out more voltage/wattage, but won'y because it isn't needed. If you plan of crossfire, a 550W would be better.

As for the keyboard, that is a personal choice - I went all out and got a mechanical keyboard and I think it is completely worth the $120 I payed for it. However, it isn't necessary to spend that much money on a keyboard. Try a few and see what feels best.

Why does it have to be Windows? I am not a fanboy, so I respect what is best, and Windows is not the best. The only reason to get Windows for a gaming computer is the fact that Steam isn't officially released on Linux yet. Linux is free - once Steam, and other major software moves over there, Windows 7 will crumble, and Windows 8 will be ubquitous in Windows PCs. Already, manufacturers are starting to preinstall Ubuntu/Linux onto their OEMs, and frankly, that is the best choice. It is free, it is more powerful, and it is going to (within several months) become extremely content rich for gaming.

You copied the wrong link to your parts list - post the right link and I will try to lower the price.

I wouldn't mind Linux at all but the main reason that I'm building a pc is because I don't like my laptop and I'm planning on playing Elder Scrolls Online. They've already said that they are creating the game for Windows and Mac.. so no Linux :( if it wasnt for that I would've gone with linux but I don't want to risk building my pc, the game comes out and then it supports linux like 9 months later.

sorry about that, is this it? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/xYVQ

Thanks on the info of the power supply! I'll try to see if I can go with a 550W.

Once again thanks for the help.

first, get rid of the DVD drive unless you actually need it. most people never use them any more and on a build this cheep the money you put into the DVD drive could go into something ells. get 2133Mhz RAM. because the graphics processor built into the AMD FM2 processors uses the system RAM, the faster the RAM is the better you graphics processor will perform. and the 430W power supply is fine, i wouldn't want to go any lower than that because most of the really low watt power supply aren't made very well, i wouldn't trust them. coursair is a great brand that's a great power supply.

for that money i would do this

Processor: AMD A10-5800K ........................................................$129.99

This will perform a little better than the one you link too and costs a little less. this should be a great little computer for a gamer on a budget :)

oh, and what ever you do, don't get windows 8. get windows 7. it's a great OS and if they ever get around to making windows 8 actualy usable for gamers you can easaly upgrade later for $60. but for now, i strogly recomend staying with windows 7.

Thanks! That sounds pretty awesome, and I wont need a dvd drive but I'm confused on how I would manage to get an os on a flash drive. They sell it like that at best buy or something?

no, you have to put it on a flash drive yourself. i've never had to do it so i'm not quite sure. i think you may be able to buy a digital copy but don't take my word for it. if you end up just needing a DVD drive you can grab this one. it's cheep and from a good company.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/y6vE says the motherboard isnt compatible with the amd a10?

Ok thanks, I appreciate your help.

Any time :)

oh, and by the way. you need to make sure that you go into the BIOS once you have the computer set up and set the RAM to 2133Mhz. alot of motherboards are set much lower by default

Oh I almost forgot! I don't have a phone line in my room which means my modem is out in the living room. I have to connect wirelessly, Will I have to buy an external wireless adapter?

Yeah you will. I mean if you could try and get a line going because it helps connection alot. And go with the A10 build if you actually plan on playing it at medium settings.

I really wouldn't suggest Windows 8, I used it..hated it. I mean I'm sure it's something you get used to but it's nothing great.

In DCWalts build, don't go for a WD Green. It's as fast as a laptop drive it's meant for saving power on just regular use builds.

Here's my shot at it http://pcpartpicker.com/p/y7II . The faster RAM helps, but eh I don't really think it's super necessary over 1866.

I'm kinda a logitech fanboy, but they do make great budget-y stuff. I also like Zalman's budget cases alot.

The motherboard dcwalt put is an am3 you need a fm2.  spenlard's build is very good on a budget maybe add a coolermaster tx3 or 212 for a little overclock

Your build is great! I found some 2133 ram for the same price as the 1866. It's G.skill sniper series (2x4gb) check it out http://pcpartpicker.com/p/y84n . I'm seriously about to go with this for the build. It has the a10 which is truely what I want but I've stuck with the a6 for budget purposes. Has a bigger harddrive and a way cooler case. My one and only problem to this build is the OS. If I have to buy it thats an extra $100 :( I'm about to just pirate it and wait for the day ESO works on Linux. What do you think? Thanks again, really like this build.

Yea his build sounds real good. I'll definetly be upgrading this build in the future as I get the money, get a better cpu cooler as you suggested for some overclock and possibly a radeon 6670 (or other you guys may suggest). Thanks for the info.

i recommend the this build of course upgrade the ram but you can do crossfire with it from the onboard APU and a 6670 Dedicated so i think its nice its a software crossfire setup

i havent picked a case yet but from what i have been reading everywhere this is the way to go

If you throw in the G Skill Ripjaws, (http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f314900cl9d8gbxl) you can get a Combo Discount with the A10 for -$12.00 off.

thanks a lot for taking my built bro that nice from your part and not even giving credit

That is good but I found 8gb of 2133 memory for $50 so I think I'm gonna go with that and just do without the discount. Thanks for finding that for me though!

I like it cause it has a cpu cooler and I'll be able to overclock a bit but I'm also gonna need a harddrive. I think I might just buy that cpu cooler a little bit in the future. Thanks for the help! :)

What?
