Changing a Cpu Cooler Fan

HI, I have and thermaltake Contac 30 cpu cooler (just a stander air cooling setup) i was wondering if i want to change the fan if i am going to need a high pressure fan. Because i know you need them on Liquid cooling radiators. And depending on what fan type i need what are your suggestions?  Thanks for the help.

This is a link to the cooler i have.

That cooler has a very normal heatsink fin design, so no need to change out the fan unless you're also looking to get a fan with a different running speed. I see that the cooler comes with a second set of fan mounts, so you could also add a second fan to it in order to increase performance a bit.

so can i use a normal fan? or do i need a high pressure one?

No need for any perticularly high pressure fan here. The air resistance going through a regular finned cooler is not that high.

Ok thanks cause the only reason i ask is because i would like a quieter fan than the one that's on there now

lol, made another thread.

The included fan should slow down to about 800 RPM when the system is not working hard. If it currently does not then check if the fan power cable is connected to the power connector labeled CPU on the motherboard, and that it is a 4-pin connector. In case the motherboard only has 3-pin connectors then changing out the fan might indeed be necessary.

it is plunged into the CPU fan header but it constantly runs at 2000 rpm

With a little luck some BIOS setting related to regulating the CPU fan could do the trick. Some motherboards don't automatically do that, and some can't regulate at all or only regulates either 3-pin or 4-pin fans. Have a look at that.

i was able to set a target fan speed/temp range of around 860 rpm but its on auto, so if the cpu get hotter will the fan speed up?

Yeah that's the general idea. You could always investigate how it behaves with whatever program that shows fan speeds, when the CPU is working harder.

everything works fine thanks for all the help
