Changed routers from a Netgear Orbi mesh to TP link AXE5300 mesh system. Most everything configured fine. My main PC shows that it is connected but i try to go to any website and it just hangs for a while and then drops and shows me a dns error. Im at wits end. Ive googled a bunch of websites and havent found what i am looking for. Currently connected to one of the nodes and i am pulling 630Mb down and 630 Mb up. Not sure what else to look at. Going to flash the latest bios and see if that changes anything.
Any and all help would be appreciated!
PC specs
Asrock 450 itx
ryzen 5 3600
evga 3060ti
Things ive tried so far:
- Complete reset of the routers
- tesing one node at a time
- Creating a new SSID and only adding my PC on it and testing the nodes as mains, 1 at a time to try to eliminate that issue.
- Changing DNS addresses on my wireless connection on my PC.
Changed from the default to Googles and cloudflare.
Nothing seems to make a difference at all. Any and all help is super welcome!
Let’s try and narrow it down.
What’s the OS?
Is the PC only connected on WiFi or is it wired too?
What browser are you using?
Any VPNs?
Do other devices work on WiFi?
Can you try and do nslookup in terminal/command prompt? What do you get?
nslookup google.com
Can you try and do nslookup and specify the DNS server? What do you get?
nslookup google.com 8.8.8.8
nslookup google.com 9.9.9.9
Can you try and ping any DNS server? What do you get?
ping 8.8.8.8
ping 9.9.9.9
Can you try and trace route to any DNS server? What do you get? You can replace any IP addresses with x.x.x.x we only need to know if you can leave your local network and end up on 1.1.1.1
Windows:
tracert 1.1.1.1
Linux/MacOS
traceroute 1.1.1.1

Does this mean you did some kind of speed/bandwidth test or is it just link speed reported by the WiFi?
You may find it better to give up trying to fix the WiFi, it’s never all that good even when working perfectly. Instead run a CAT5e cable from your PC to your router and remove the PC’s WiFi.
