Centos network not working

soo... i've got a centos vm in vmware... trying to use a vmware internal network thru pfsense to isolate my vms so i can play with AD and dhcp.
however, centos absolutely refuses to connect to the network. works fine with the vmware nat network, but on my private, nada...of course, it being linux, it doesn't tell me anything, unlike windumbs...
the server 2012r2 and pfsense work just fine,a nd the win server supplies dhcp and AD...and i got it to work before, but it's not working anymore

Okay, let's start with the basics.

can you tell me the vm's network status?

you can just paste the output of ip addr into your response.

Also, what subnet are you trying to connect the vm to?

the 192 is just my NAT backup.... ignore it.
vmnet5... same as my windows server and pfsense
EDIT: looks like it's not receiving replies to DHCPdiscover
also edit: fired up an olderish unbuntu vm, connected it to the network, same result. i think that the dhcp packets are not being properly routed

This is odd. is pfsense or windows server running dhcp?

so if you manually configure an ip in the same subnet, are you able to ping pfsense?

It sounds like something's wrong with your vswitch. I'm making the assumption that you're using ESXi.

windows server. i'm using workstation. windows 7 client fails to get dhcp as well. firewalls are off

I'm not using vmware but Kim and I had to setup ip manually using nmcli in centos7 to get routing working maybe it's just centos7 specific issue. Hope it helps

i got it working. was an issue with the DHCP server. DHCP, DNS, and AD were not playing nice. nuke and pave.
