I've wanted to mod an old case i have, but i also have been considering just making my own case completely.
so, what experience is it good to have to start case modding?

PCIe brackets are 6-32, mobo standoffs are 6-32. Fly with that :)
also, it really helps if you find the ATX standards. helpful to know the dimensions of the rear IO and pcie slots. if you already have a case, it's probably just easier to measure off that.
Is it possible to modify a standard case to be a 90 degree rotated case?
Very :)
:D
how else do ya think some dude managed to fit an EATX mobo in a prodigy?
magic?
anyhow, i have a plan for custom build htpc case, which is supposed to be really small. i'm trying to find the dimensions for mini itx screw hole distances. any idea where i could find those?
Im my experiance I find the best way to do this is to dismantle an existing case then retro-fit the fitting into what ever it is you're trying to build rather than "re-inventing the wheel" with custom drilled fittings, saves you a lot of hastle and it gives you have piece of mind knowing the parts you buy will fit into the mounting you have just salvaged
most computer shops are more than happy to give you a scrap case or 2 if you need mountings etc.
