I have an nzxt phantom (not the full size one) in black, if you look at the nzxt there is a plastic stripe that funs from the front to the back by the fan grille I want to paint this stripe white/silver/blue one of those,any idea how i would go about this? Im assuming all i need to do is put masking tape on the metal around it and spray paint the stripe right?
This is tricky because the stripe is plastic it will not like being painted and the paint will inevitably come off.
You could do as you suggested though, but you would need to first sand the plastic with rough sandpaper to make sure the paint stcks a bit better. When sanding plastic make sure to sand it only very so slightly, just enough to make the surface rough. Not so much that it digs holes in the plastic or makes the surface extremely bumpy and uneven. After sanding you would want to, as you said, masking tape up the metal, and spray paint. When spraying, do light bursts with quickish movements back and forth, Linus from LinusTechTips demonstrated this in one of his personal rig updates.

You will want to a fair few layers of paint untill you have the desired effect.
So the short answer is YES you can do it but it's a pain in the arse, and I would only do it if you REALY want to.
P.S. I personally LOVE modding cases but now that I have my 650D I haven't as it is already perfect for me at the moment.
