I'm a technology enthusiast who works in retail sales and have been wanting to get back into school since I left the military, but haven't been able to since I have three kids. I recently found out my wife is pregnant with our fourth child (definitely getting snipped now) and I'm tired of my wife and I working our butts off to barely get by (we get a little extra over bills, but it takes us awhile to save up for something nice for us).
I did a couple years of college before I joined the military for auto mechanics, then spent six years as a mechanic in the military. I learned over that time period that I apparently hate being a mechanic (at least a military mechanic).
Over the past four years I've been getting into electronics (I sell electronics) and have become very enthusiastic about hardware (computer and mobile). I built my current build from the ground up (haven't gotten around to naming it) and love putting builds together (I've done a few). I know there isn't a lot of money in putting together hardware and realize I need to get into software on some level but I'm not completely sure where to start. I'd like to get into content creation with my wife because we're both artistic on some level but if I'm honest with myself I feel like I need to do something with more job security.
If you're interested in the build I mentioned (upgraded over two years), the specs are: FX8320, R9 290 liquid cooled w/ HG-10 & H100i (4 fans push/pull), 8GB ddr3 1333, MSI 970A-G46, Raidmax RX-1000AE, 1TB 7200rpm hdd pulled from an HP (still thinks its an hp in the recovery menu), Fractal Designs Define R4. In my defense the most advanced software class at my school when I was in high school only taught microsoft works. I remember needing a floppy disc at some point. Meanwhile my first grader needs to bring a flash drive to school. I really like to get caught up education wise and any advice would be really appreciated.
