Car Audio HELP PLEASE

I need someone to help me either design a sub woofer enclosure or recommend me some specs so i can build one. I’ve got the whole table saw and everything and made one sub box but a bud of mine didn’t cut the speaker hole the correct size and had an air leak and i have already purchased 3/4 MDF wood to make a new enclosure.

The sub i have is an Alpine SWS-12D4
The amp is Power Acoustik RZ1-2300D RZ1-2300D Amplifier - Power Acoustik

Also i mainly listen to Rap music and some “metal.” I’d like to have a ported enclosure.

If someone could help me out before Saturday that would be great. No space restrictions, it can be as large as needed. I just want it to sound good and be structurally strong.

The box I currently have the sub woofer in is http://ddaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/12_compact_size.pdf

1) what is wrong with the current box?

2) do you have enough wood? you will need to factor in the interior volume of the box in order to "tune" it
throwing a driver into a box rarely yields great results.

3) are you using a x-over on your box?
what is the x-over rated at? (imp and wattage)

4) you will need to pick a size for your box in order for me to tell you how wide and how deep the port needs top be.

what frequency do you want the boxed tuned to? I find 30 to 35 hz a good range.

Watch this - he explains how dimensions, baffles and port location is important and has links to plans for the box they build.

Whats wrong with the current box? There's a ton of air leaks in all the wrong places, and simple thinking i believe that is not okay.. but hey i could be wrong ;p

I do not have a single clue what X-over is.

Yes i have enough wood, if not i can always make another trip the the local hardware store (menards/home depot)

See thats why im asking for help because i dont know the differences of tuning boxes and a range for hz. I dont know whats good or whats bad. I just need someone to tell me how to do it or almost how i want it haha.

Well i cant even purchase those plans from that video because their site runs through paypal and im banned from paypal :/

Okay, lets go with 32Hz, that is what your driver is rated at with a vented design.

You need pages 3 and 4 here http://support.alpine-usa.com/products/documents/OM_SWS-101215_D4_2.pdf

this is a calculator specifically for speaker box design. http://www.diyaudioandvideo.com/Calculator/SpeakerBoxVolume/

Pro-tips seal what should not have air coming out of it with caulk after the wood glue dries.
You still need to screw the box together as the glue is only as strong as the top layer of MDF. ,
Dont forget inside padding sound insulation pads can be had for cheap, or, just use a pillow topper from wal-mart.

DO NOT SCREW DIRECTLY INTO WOOD! ALWAYS MAKE PILOT HOLES AND USE ONLY WOOD SCREWS. otherwise you can crack the MDF.

Finnish: I would use pickup truck bed liner as carpet looks like crap very quickly and tolex is not worth the hassle.
