So, I have done a lot of filming lately and decided to build a capture rig. Truthfully, its also because my home server crashed and two of the 4tb drives crashed and I decided to go a different route with a media computer. So, I took the part from my old server and compiled it into a capture rig.
Msi G41M-P33 Combo Motherboard
ADATA XPG V1.0 8GB
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
Mushkin Enhanced ECO2 2.5" 60GB ---- Windows 7
ADATA Premier SP550 240GB Capture drive
AVerMedia C985 Live Gamer HD
PNY GeForce GT 710
Using this motherboard is a cheap solution because I sourced all of this from an older computer. The problem with using this particular motherboard is that it does not have a HDMI connection. So, I had to buy a GPU to get video output because I do not have a monitor or tv with VGA connectors.
However, with this current setup I have been able to capture game streams, record Tv and anything from my DSLR camera without any hiccups so far. For data transfer I just ssh into my main rig and transfer the data that way. This setup has worked fantastic so far.
