Capture Card

Hello,

I am looking for a capture card that has a RCA input which will allow me to plug in my PS2 and project it onto my monitor. I have no interest in capturing the games I play, I just don't want to deal with the adapters required to hook it up to my monitor. I remember someone saying they found one for around $30.

Anyone seen something like this?

EDIT: Leaning towards Asus Falcon2

Why get a capture card if you're not going to use it? Just buy an RCA to HDMI and connect it to, pretty much, ANY monitor/tv thats made nowadays :)

I want to be able to play my games in a window while still having the monitor connected to my PC. I would not mind if it captured games so I could record playthroughs, but seeing as how the less expensive cards might not be able to do so at a quality I will use, capturing is not a priority. If a card cannot do so, then maybe a box that can switch inputs hooked up to my monitor would work.

Avermedia C285 will do the job - price could be a problem though

For that price I might as well set up my 11" Tv. I was thinking more of a PCI card or something along those lines. Thank you for the recommendation.

Something like a TV card might work for me. Leaning to the Asus Falcon2

Why would you want to plug you ps2 into a PC? So you have RCA (red white yellow) and what to plug it into the projector which is VGA?

Those will never work. Analog to digital without a converter is impossible.

Shit man sorry about that. When I first read your comment I thouhg 'nahhhh' but then I look online and apparently the whole rca to vga thing was a scandal! :o I did find this though http://www.ebay.com/itm/gib-TV-RCA-Composite-S-video-AV-In-to-PC-VGA-LCD-Out-Converter-Adapter-Box-/171351220612?pt=US_Video_Cables_Adapters&hash=item27e5542184 you will need to use a different audio port though most likely, does it have optical? What ports are on the back?

Already have something like that to hook up my PC to the TV so I can watch movies. That's how I found out about it not working. Only problem is that they are not backwards compatible (VGA to Analog does not do Analog to VGA) However, the VGA to RCA is not a scandal. It just requires certain AV equipment that is used in video production. (Got to use some of that equipment a while back)

Thanks for the input, but I will probably not go that route due to an empty wallet. From what I have seen, the Asus Falcon2 will suit my needs for an affordable price. It will allow me to not only plug in my PS2, but my NES (Assuming I can get it to work).

Didn't think about the input lag. However, are they not practically the same thing? Both convert analog to digital. (Far as I can tell anyhow)

using composite is just going back to the stone age. The quality you get is absolutely horrid by then you are far better off just emulating it.

Using old tech on a modern display.the NES is basically 256x224 pixels where the PS2 is 480P still shows bad picture on a monitor. If you want to enjoy the games you are better off getting an CRT TV. If you really want to play it on an LCD monitor/TV emulate it and use some filters. As much as I like retro gaming using such tech on modern LCD's will just make you feel sad.

Hm. Guess I will give it some thought.

Guess I will just have to live with the 11" tv I have stashed in a corner.
