Unfortunately my trusty (or not so trusty) trendnet switch died. Upon investigation, I appears the capacitors inside are nonfunctional (bulged). I need brand recommendations for replacing them (I'm really new to the capacitor market). Looking at identification on the side of the existing caps it appears I need 1000 microfarad 10v 105C tolerant through-hole caps (not sure if there are other specifications I'm missing) Any help is appreciated; sorry if this is in the wrong section... thanks :)
Anything japanese should be top quality, like Nippon Chemi-con, Elna, Sanyo... Look for low-ESR ones.
Check the age of the switch , is it worth it ? if the caps popped there might be other affected components. I would replace. (IMO)
i agree with maxcat, switches are pretty cheap now a days. and i agree it's sometimes fun and satisfying to fix stuff.
but the amount of money on new caps, and the labor involved to replace them on the off chance it might fix it might not be worth the money and effort. but yeah, just check the age of the switch.
