Cant Upgrade to Win 8.1

any one else getting this:

Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit (with Media Center) Store Update Restores to 8.0 with 0xC1900101-0x40017 Error......

i have a legit copy of WIn 8 Pro with media center... i couldn't find it in the store till i searched a article that has the link got it to start downloading and downloads and does a complete install till the very end and restart and shows me that error....

I heard that people with pro where having problems...

Any help???

Had the same problems with the same setup.  Make sure all windows updates are installed first (except for the bing desktop).  It finally worked on my 5th try... Still had reinstall start-is-back.

what do you mean by "except for the bing desktop"? is this something that could be preventing me from downloading 8.1? when i click on the store it doesnt even show me the big purple tile to do so. I have 8 pro with wmc.

Because Bing sucks.

I went from Windows 8 Pro 64bit to Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit with no issues. I always keep everything up to date,  so that might have helped? But really, no issues on my end at all.

after fighting it i got it to view in the store and install.. now it boots to a black screen.. i went in to safe mode and see that not only did it not carry my new nvida drivers i had just installed.. it now has a little yellow triangle next to the monitor?? WTF.. tried reinstalling video drivers.. no luck i get the windows 8 logo.. then black screen..IDK i might have to reload everything from scratch and try again...

When in safe mode, none of your drivers are activated. It only uses windows default drivers.

the 0xC1900101-0x40017 error is probably due to you having steelseries drivers installed on the PC they are incompatible with the standard mouse/keyboard drivers, uninstall them (or other non standard drivers for keyboard and mouse input devices) and you should be fine.

Well i reinstalled windows 8 from scratch.. then add the Media Center.. then after just a few drivers.. went to..Update win 8.1... it would download to 50 percent and then fail... tried all the tricks and tips to get it to load.. after a few hours.. it did it by itself.. finished installing.. everything looks great.. tilll.... i rebooted next morn.. and BLAMO... back to it booting up and seeing the window logo.. and thennnnnn nothing but black...WTF.. guess im redoing and sticking with windows 8 for a while longer .. its something with the video out put that is the issue but i have the latest and greatest drivers ...i just dont know what to do from here...any body have suggestions?
