Cant type in command prompt, win 7

basically i was installing a win7 parittion on a usb so i could do a fresh install for my grandfather who had a nasty trojan completely fuck his registry.

i ran these commands:

List Disk

SELECT DISK #

CLEAN

CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY

SELECT PARTITION #

ACTIVE

FORMAT FS=NTFS

ASSIGN

as soon as i entered "assign" i could no longer type in cmd, it is still happening. I am able to type ONE command but as soon as i enter it i can no longer type.

Ive installed win7 via usb many times and i am absolutely stumped, Does any body know the solution? am I an idiot and the solution is something extreamly simple? please let me know.

It might be that the drive is going bad and that it can no longer assign partitions. First though I'd recomend just using the graphical interface. If it freezes there too, then try another hard drive. If if still freezes then something is probably wrong with the software. You may want to remake the flash drive. Oh, and if your still having issues, make sure your not booting off of a usb3 port. I had a lot of issues trying to boot off of flash drive from my front panel usb because windows or what ever other os I tried ot boot didn't nativley contain the usb3 driver chipset for my front panel, and I had another experience where the front usb ports on my brothers computer had a separate logic baord on the front of the case that the windows 7 instalation disc couldn't understand, but works fine in windows.

Good luck if you haven't figured it out already.
