Can't install World of Tanks properly

Here is a short overview what I did.

  1. installed the EU version of the game from here
    While installing there are some minor bugs, but I think they refer to some pictures not showing in the installer.
  2. Recommendations say I should close the wot-launcher/installer after the installation has finished.
    I did that, but the Lutris install-window is still active and wont close.
    Also there is no entry in my libery.

    This picture shows that Lutris wont finish the installation, and there is no entry in my libery.

Here you can see that everything is installed.

The files get deleted when I close the installer and wine then.
Dunno what to do next.

Its the third time I tried to install the game via Lutris.
Second time I was launching the game anyway and then it crashed as soon I got into the garage. No Game Log what so ever.

Edit1:
Then I tried to install WoT via PlayOnLinux.
It seems POL will install WindowsXP-SP3 and some fonts first.
Then it tries download ie7-dlls.tar.bz2 and stops in the middle.

Edit2:
After that I tried to install Bumblebee.
# apt-get install bumblebee-nvidia primus primus-libs:i386

This broke my system because bumblebee was deinstalling nvidia-driver and replace it by bumblebee-nvidia, so I had to deinstall those drivers and installed nvidia-drivers again.

Last but not least I tried to run WoT with wine in CLI.
The Game Launcher seems to work, but when starting the game it does a CTD.

I finally found a solution to my problem.
Wine was running in the background and Lutris was waiting for it to finish.

The recommendation on the Lutris Web page says …

Close the launcher after downloading World of Tanks to finish installation.

But the recommendation should say to close/kill wine after the installation.

Now WoT is added to my Lutris-Libery and it plays flawless.

Hello I’m Marek and I’m new here. Could you tell me what I need to install before Lutris and WoT?

Pretty much the defaults … wine64 and maybe wine32. NVidia-Drivers blob (including vulkan) when using a NVidia GPU, or Mesa-Drivers (incl. vulkan) when using an AMD GPU.
Then you can install lutris. Last but not least select the game on the lutris page and press install.

There should be a small window with wine and a wot symbol in it. This you need to close/kill when the download has finished.

If needed you can tell us your OS, then we may give some more detailed instructions.

Hello, Im vladi, just registered.
I’ve been trying to get WoT installed with Lutris, but to no avail. No matter if i close the Wot installer or the wine system tray, lutris just hangs and never completes the installation, and no entry of the game is created on lutris.
A wine entry is created on the applications menu and i can launch the game from there, (after fixing the command parameters, the paths were all messed up).
Anyways, i can launch the game from there but it hangs upon entering the garage.
I can hear the background noise and interface butons are present, but no image.
I was wondering, since im actually not starting the game from lutris itself, may have someting to do with the settings of the launcher lutris create (or should have, in my case).
I cam manually create an entry but the exacts parameters are a mistery to me :frowning:
Im running debian testing with wine staging, kernel 4.19.01 Intel core i5, intel graphics, mesa vulkan drivers installed.

I had this too, and I fixed it while changing resolution of the game.
Don’t use full screen to run the game.

I also added some NVidia Variables into lutris.
I removed mesa_glthread
and added the following …

DXVK_HUD=fps
__GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATIONS=1
__GL_SHADER_DISK_CACHE=1
__GL_SHADER_DISK_CACHE_PATH=$HOME
__PBA_GEO_HEAP=1999
PBA_DISABLE=0

Not sure what Variables an Intel GPU will use instead.

Also I am no more running debian as a rolling release any more. Debian-testing got unstable at some point on my platform.

Open a CLI and try ps aux | grep -i wine after installation has finished.
Then u will see all processes running wine.
Then u need to kill all processes that says wine in it.
kill [NUMBER OF PROCESS]
This should be recognized by lutris and finish the installation.
