Just got this and can’t get it to work at all. Maybe its my input devices? I have a Das Keyboard 4 and a Razer DeathAdder.
No matter what HID ports I plug them into, nothing happens. They don’t even light up, are not recognized, etc.
The generic USB (non-HID) ports work, but there aren’t enough of them (and hubs don’t really work with this keyboard/mouse, at least none of the hubs I’ve had. Generally adding yet another hub seems to always cause problems).
Are these ports supposed to work? Any idea what might be going on? Probably will return if I can’t figure this out, as there are simply not enough ports otherwise.
The hid ports are meant for hid devices. If they load a funky driver then it wont be in hid mode.
Does the das keyboard have any dip switches or anything to change the mode.
You can also add a $5 usb3 hub if you want more usb3 ports. Theres a hub in the kvm itself so if its working with that itll probably work other usb3 hubs.
The whole implemetstion strategy of usb on the kvm is designed for two types of ports to cover the different ways usb devices misbehave. Its a feature.
I’m assuming there’s no way to use console hotkeys when you’re not plugged into the HID port? [Since it doesn’t seem to work when connected to the USB3 ports].
Powered hub seems to mostly work, other than losing hotkeys (not a dealbreaker I guess, although if there’s some way I could get them to work that would be nice).
Unfortunately after trying it out for a day this just doesn’t seem to work. Every so often the keyboard and mouse drop out and reconnect (on multiple PCs – Windows, ChromeOS, and Linux – so not just a single computer issue).
Going to try one more hub just to see if that makes any difference, but otherwise this seems unusable sadly (when its not resetting, it works great… huge improvement oevr what I had but its reset multiple times just writing this post)
If your hub is not jank you might try adding one pc to the kvm at a time. Specificnusb hosts such as old asmedia controllers can cause trouble for all ports since they violate spec. Usually nbd to just use a different port on the problem host
