Can't access external usb hard drive

I had a 3tb seagate external hard drive but the usb plug on it broke off.

So I bought a new enclosure for it but now I cannot access it. A DRX U35D. Says it supports drives up to 3tb.

I have done this before with other hard drives and not had a problem.

It shows up in the device manager when it is plugged in but I can't open it. Any ideas what I might be missing would be greatly appreciated

There is no data on the drive so I am not worried about trying to save anything.

Thanks in advance.

Try using Linux. You can put it on a CD/USB and run it from there without installing it (a live CD/ live USB). It worked with me, i was able to access a hard drive, copy it's data to another and then format it using a Linux programme called GParted.

You can use Ubuntu, or elementary OS. Either would run from a live CD/USB.
