After few weeks of research and waiting for a sale, I am going to build my first self build computer this weekend. I have some experience with putting hardware together, but I never actually pick out the parts myself before. So, here is the spec and hopping if you guys can give me some advice:
i5 4690K / i7 4790K (depending on if sale ends on i7 this friday)
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus
Asus Z97-A
G.SKILL Ripjawsx F3-2133C11D-16GXL 16GB 2X8GB DDR3-213 (only 10 dollars more than 1600 counter part!?)
EVGA GTX 970 (got it few weeks ago already)
Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB (1 year old friend)
Corsair TX 750 power supply (5 years old friend)
Questions:
1) I like to run chrome and sometimes watch youtube while gaming, I read online that if I go for i5, running multiple applications might have a big impact on performance. Does running chrome and watching youtube counts as running multiple applications?
2) I usually overclock my CPU and I am running a i5 760 at 4.00 ghz right now. Most overclock guide I read points out that there isn't much room for 4790K to overclock (and a heat problem as well) while i5 can easily go up to 4.6+ ghz. There is 130 CAD difference between the price tag, will the performance be very similar after overclocking?
3) I picked the G.SKILL 2133 16gb because it is only 10 dollars more than Corsair Vengeance Heatspreader CMZ16GX3M2A1600C9, but I notice that while G.SKILL's timing is 11-13-13-31-2N and Crosair's timing is 9-9-9-24. So, should I go for the faster ram and pay 10 dollars more or the lower timing Crosair?
