I have a Dell poweredge 1600SC server that was givin to me andit is not in the original case and the case it is in now is falling apart(1 of the 2 HD cages won't even go back on any more)so i need to get it a new case,or find a case i can mod to make it fit,but first i need to find out the form factor.
I already tried posting on dell's website, but got no real help.
I also have been also looking over pictures and have yet to find out which it is.
Here are some pics i found that might help.
This is one outside of it's case.
This is one in the n the original case.
I was also looking at this pic and comparing the different sizes buy looking them up and comparing to these 2 pics.
Thank you guys for the help.
Some kinda extended ATX. Should fit in any full-tower case.
Strange layout, even for a 2CPU motherboard.
Do you know what's the model number of that motherboard?
socket 478 and 755 era dells are custom to dell only, it won't fit in anything else
not off the top of my head, but when i get the chance i will see if i can find out,but if it helps the model of the system it's in is a Dell poweredge 1600sc.
it's not either of those sockets it socket 604,and it uses a Xeon cpu,and is there any way i could mod a case to make it fit?
I did a little bit of research. This motherboard is a propiortary form factor for the Dell Poweredge 1600SC. It will only fit in it's oringinal case, unless you want to mod a case so it can fit.
Dang it lol,any advice on modding a case to make it fit?
Well find a case that is very close to that motherboard form factor, then drill the holes big enough to put the stand offs in.
Ok i think i found a case that might fix it cause it is i think close to an eatx form factor(cause i think it is 12x13)
But it is $92 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811128020
is it worth it to spend that much on a server this old?
Also here are the specs to help to see if it is worth it.
It has 2x 2ghz Xeon CPU's with HT, 3GB of ECC DDR RAM and i have 4 73.3GB 10K RPM SCSI Hard drives, plus some IDE drives, and i was going to get a PCI sata card later so i could add some sata drives.
