Hi awesome tek syndicate comunity! I'm going to build my first computer ever sometime in february. Since windows costs so much i was thinking... can you game on linux? Can you play all windows games with wine? Is linux completely compatible with apple programs?
If you could give some clarity in tihs subject it would be much appreciated, Thanks.

Yes, right now Valve is trying to make all Steam games compatible with Linux. It is still in dev. phase but it might not be fully functional out by your building deadline. It will keep evolving though so you should be fine.

They Get a game working as best they can then when an update comes out it tends to make the game not works so when they get too many games going it takes a long time to work on them so the most popular games tend to work the best under wine. Some games that are old that don't get updated work under older versions of wine and you can have multiple versions of wine installed at once.
*cough* I never said this, but *cough* get yourself a cracked windows7 or 8 from thepiratebay until valve is finished getting steam on linux. (if they're not finished already when you got your rig)
you can get a copy of windows 8 for $40. thats what i did, im waiting for steam to iron out the kinks on all their games. after that, sayonara windows.
this seems to be the question of the month lol.
I'm not encouraging it, but if you are low on money, get w7 from torrent sites...I am using it right now, not proud of it but it works fine just disable the updates.
