Can you drag a photo from shotwell to gmail/geary/evolution?

So I know this is probably a stupid question, but is there a way to export/import photos from shotwell into an email client by directly dragging and dropping a photo?

Right now I have to drag a photo from shotwell to a file manager and then to an email.

Is there a way to make it so that I can delete the middle man here?

I think this should go to Linux Helpdesk.

Can you try going backwards through the process?
ie: Open Email client then browse to file location?
That should eliminate the middle step.

You should be able to copy location in shot well (I know you can do this in Digikam)

Yes, I could but to be honest, I am trying to set this crap up for a friend who is very used to OSX.

He is pretty old and really can not use a file manager to save his life.

He was happy with OSX until recently when they killed iphoto.

shotwell is kind of like iphoto, and geary is much like apple mail, so I am hoping I can bridge this gap.

I understand, Ill look into recreating this on my laptop.
Are you using browser based email or an email client program?

Everything.

Browser (gmail)

thunderbird

geary

evolution.
