Not on ultra, no.

What components would you recommend to upgrade it?

First of all you need a 2gb version of the card, second buy an FX 6300... Then you can for sure play it at Ultra at 720p with decent framerate...

According to crytek, you need a gtx 670 or a radeon 7970. They say you only need a FX 4150 to run at ultra, so you might be able to run at ultra or near ultra with a x4 965.

Only thing that'll stop you from playing on Ultra is the processor and graphics card... basically the basis for gaming.. So yeah, the ancient Phenom needs a successor in your build.

Sorry, that was my old Graphics Card here's my new one

HIS IceQ H787Q2G2M Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

Also what processor do you recommend, I know the Phenom II is old, but I don't know what kind to get?

I disagree. In the benchmarks I've seen, the x4 965 only performs 2-5 fps worse than a FX 6300. The phenom is still very strong considering it's age.

I think I will also change my processor to your recommendation of the FX 6300 thanks for the help!

In that case, you probably should consider buying a FX 8350. You will probably be able to play at very high with the build you have now, if not, you could always just spend $25 on a hyper 212+ and overclock your CPU.

The Phenom II is starting to show it's age however.

Do you think my RAM will perform well with this build?

True, but it's not dead yet, the only AM3 CPU that will do significantly better in most games is the 8350. It won't become completely outdated untill next year, when the new consoles cause more games to be optimised for 8 cores.

Some 1600 MHz RAM will make your build somewhat more futureproof, but for gaming, it will not make much difference.

hello i need help i can run cyrsis at ultra but there is some drops in frame rate, i went and overclocked my gpu and it got better but still there were some frame rate drops here and there. i get an average of 30 fps and it runs pretty smoothly should i be getting a better frame rate if so what can i do to improve it.

motherboard: gigabyte 990fx

cpu: amd fx 8120 8 core

gpu: powercolor hd radeon 7970 3gb gddr 5

psu: tx 850

ram: 16gb

hdd: 1tb

The only way you're going to hit ultra settings with a decent framerate is if you either get dual high end graphics cards or a single gtx titan.

is it worth going out and buying a second gpu?
