Can this be used for a monitor?

So i found a vehicle monitor thing lying around my house. After some research it appears its intended function is for a rear camera on your vehicle. I was wondering if it would be possible to use this "monitor" for a secondary computer that i primarily use as a file server. I was thinking i have that and use a converter box to hdmi to plug into my computer. I was looking at this on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009A6PJKQ?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00

My real question though is im not real good when it comes to wires and such and the "power cable" for this monitor is the plug that goes into the monitor on one end and a red and black cable on the other. I'm not sure if it would be possible to buy a power adapter that is just a wall plug on one side and the plug for the monitor on the other?

Would the converter box i posted work?

Also if i have a AC adapter lying around for something else could i use it to power the monitor instead?

I had thought of that before but i have went into my local goodwill dozens of times and they only ever sell CRT's.

Maybe try a local pawn shop? They usually have a few old lcd's laying around
