Can somebody help me identify this keyboard layout?

I’ve brought a elitebook 2560p and installed ubuntu on an SSD, i’ve had hardly any problems with most hardware as drivers have been downloaded automatically after being detected. though the ambient light sensor, bluetooth and fingerprint scanner are still issues.

The only major issue i have had is with the keybindings, HP have used some weird layout (see picture) and I was wondering how i could go about correcting this, is there a keybindings file I can download? or will i have to do this manually. If so how do I do this?

this is my first venture into using linux and I’m enjoying it for the most part, just need to learn how to use it properly.

Hi, glad to hear a positive linux experience.
The layout might be UK or Irish @see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QWERTY

depending on the OS (Ubuntu) this might be very easy via the control panel, or use a terminal and xkb / setxkbmap , but havent done that myself

Warning: see that after changing the layout, your password still works (do sudo ls, passwd before locking the screen/loggin out!)

Yup UK commonly, ISO is the name specifically for that layout style.

Edit: ANSI is the US style layout just for information.

The two side by side for comparison.

I've got the UK keyboard active, but the shift keys are still binded to the wrong key.
e.g.shift+2 gives me the @ key instead of "
what would you recommend I do, as well as this the number pad binded to the keys on the right side of they keyboard doesn't work.

Is there options for UK ISO and UK ANSI. If so you want ISO.

Thats Helped a lot! thank you
