Hello my fellow Level1Tech people,
We have a tape library which has two lto-4 drives. One of the drives died :(.
Luckily, we have been sent another one; except, that it is an lto-5 drive. For this library we only use lto-4 tapes and will be phasing them out over the next 2ish years.
My question for the community - can I use this lto-5 drive like an lto-4? In other words, is it possible to have my lto-5 drive behave like an lto-4 drive so that what it writes to tape is readable by the other lto-4 drive and vice-verse?
TL;DR - can an lto-4 and lto-5 coexist in the same library and play nice together?
