Can I Spray Paint a NH-D14?

Well I'm really obsessed with the whole red and black color scheme and I was wondering if I could spray pain the fans red and black. I know this is probably a noob question but I am a noob sooooo.

Also would it affect the performance?

Can you spray it - yes,

Would it affect performance - yes.

Would you notice the difference - no.

If you want a finer finish you could send it off somewhere to get powder coated or find someone locally.

Case in point. You can also paint the heatsink if you wanted to. But like Theonewhoisdrunk said, do a fine finish. If you do a thick paint job it'll effect the weight of the fans too much, slowing them down, and at the same time increase noise levels because of turbulence.

From airdeano on LTT forums:

  • masked the frame/chassis with masking tape, sprayed the blades Krylon Gloss White
  • masked off the fan blades and painted the frames Krylon Flat Black.
  • when painting the fan blades, paint using even light misting coats till color
  • is forming. 5min between coats. last coat to be slight to prevent sags
  • (unbalanced condition). let blades dry for 48hrs before removing tape and
  • 3 days afterwards to mask blades for chassis painting.

I would not recomend powder coatin as its much heavier coat than paint. Its great for cases, but not so much for fans and radiators.

if you spray the fan blades they will get heavier, and maybe can get unbalanced, so starting to fibrate.

keep that in mind.

Why not a Phanteks PH-TC14PE  black or red cooler?
