Hi everyone.
Recently, I have acquired some interest in RAID. Can anyone give me a general idea of what it is and what are its uses? Also can you give an idea what kind of configurations there are?
Thanks in advanced to this wonderful community.

Redundant Array of Independent Disks. RAID is an array of storage drives that either increase data redundancy, disk access speeds, or both redundancy and disk access speeds. Some configurations are RAID 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10 or 01. The most notable ones are 0,1,5,10
Linus does a good job at briefly explaining it, but if you are looking at a more in depth look read the wiki and if you are still hungry for more info look at an educational/reference book.
