It feels like there are a few hundred of them but only a handful are well designed...
Im looking for a lapdesk that is large enough for a 15.6" laptop with plenty of room for a mouse/mousepad.
I could care less if it has one of those pointless built in airflow fans, but would like to see some sort of built in cable routing utulity. Padding would be nice for extended use but I can always add it after the fact. Should be solid build quality but still relatively light weight...
Ya I should probably just make one but Im a truck driver and simply dont have time. Im only home 2-3 days a month and would prefer to order something online that I can pick up next time I swing by the house... Although in the future I may just end up sketching a concept out, create it in CAD and from there see if I can come up with a decent prototype...
I lucked into finding my lapdesk at Target but they don't sell it there anymore. I wasn't even looking for a lapdesk, someone dumped it in the grocery isle and I thought it was a brilliant idea. I studied ergonomics engineering and having the keyboard on your lap is the best position.
I glued the mousepad and wrist rest to the desk and added a cable management hole in the upper right. The thigh pad removes with Velcro and I have repainted it a few times.
The fans are loud and it feels a bit cheap, it's all metal except for the joints which makes it feel that way, but if you're not going to be using it to support your own weight then it's actually really nice. Its more well built than it feels.
